Service Description

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) builds on the foundation of Basic Life Support (BLS), emphasizing the importance of continuous, high-quality CPR. The hands-on instruction and simulated cases in this advanced course are designed to help enhance their skills in the recognition and intervention of cardiopulmonary arrest immediate post-cardiac arresAdvanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) builds on the foundation of Basic Life Support (BLS), emphasizing the importance of continuous, high-quality CPR. The hands-on instruction and simulated cases in this advanced course are designed to help enhance their skills in the recognition and intervention of cardiopulmonary arrest immediate post-cardiac arrest, acute arrhythmia, stroke, and acute coronary syndromes. The ACLS Self Assessment and Precourse work must be completed and emailed (hawaiicprtogo@gmail.com) or turned in no later than the week of scheduled class with a passing score of at least 70%. The self assessment link is located on the home page. The ACLS Precourse Work involves a student reviewing course content through online videos before entering the classroom. The video lessons cover multiple medical subjects and each lesson includes questions to engage the student. This precourse work allows more classroom time for hands-on skills training and leads to the student being better prepared to participate as soon as they enter the classroom.Students are also required to successfully complete the AHA BLS course and provide a copy of card prior to the class. Give yourself ample time the precourse work is expected to take 4 hours. Course Content Airway management Basic life support skills, including effective chest compressions, use of a bag-mask device and use of an AED Effective communication as a member and leader of a resuscitation team Effective Resuscitation Team Dynamics Key changes in advanced cardiovascular life support, reflecting the 2020 American Heart Association Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care Management of acute coronary syndromes (ACS) and stroke Recognition and early management of peri-arrest conditions such ACLS provider book is mandatory.
